WORKING FOR ARTS PROJECT AUSTRALIA

Writer: Sim LuttinSim Luttin

As well as working on creative projects and on developing my jewellery practice, I work as the Gallery and Exhibitions Manager at Arts Project Australia, a non-profit studio and gallery in High St Northcote. If you haven’t already visited the gallery or website you really should.

Arts Project is a hive of activity. We represent over 130 artists (40 per day) from emerging right through to professional, exhibiting their artwork in our gallery as well as in external exhibitions in Melbourne, Nationally and Internationally. One of my favourite artists at the moment is Paul Hodges, who recently curated a group exhibition at Arts Project Movement & Emotion – you can view and purchase his wonderful artwork here.

Arts Project Australia is a center of excellence that supports artists with intellectual disabilities, promoting their work and advocating for inclusion in contemporary art practice.

Sim respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit art. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider Melbourne community and beyond. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge that I work and live on the country on which Members and Elders of The Wurundjeri people and their forebears have been custodians for many centuries and on which Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. I acknowledge their living culture and unique role in this region's life.
