TAKING THE PLUNGE

Writer's picture: Sim LuttinSim Luttin

I have decided to take the plunge and dive into social media. Admittedly, I am a reluctant participant and rather than kicking and screaming I have decided to attempt to embrace it - that is, if I can keep up.

Social media, as we all know, is the latest communication phenomenon. At first I thought I would never learn to integrate it into my everyday. However, it seems unavoidable on some level, especially as an artistand arts administrator. Social media is becoming a big part of any organisations public profile. As well as using it for work, it makes sense to integrate it with promoting my arts practice and to use it as a tool to communicate with people.

Having said this social media takes so much commitment, time and maintenance. So time is all I need - more time. So, stay tuned as I embrace social media - my plans are getting bigger!

Sim respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit art. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider Melbourne community and beyond. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge that I work and live on the country on which Members and Elders of The Wurundjeri people and their forebears have been custodians for many centuries and on which Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. I acknowledge their living culture and unique role in this region's life.
