Keepsake Exhibition - It's a wrap

Kirrily Hammond and I presented two new collections of work for Keepsake at Bundoora Homestead Arts Centre in August to October 2017. By all accounts, the show was very well received with great attendance at the gallery and positive feedback--this may have had something to do with the fact that there were eight other shows on at the Homestead at the time of our show. However, this did mean the audiences that saw our show was diverse and went beyond the typical contemporary jewellery and painting 'art' crowd.

My collection of work was taken from my current time-based investigation Momentarily Here--a new series of photographs and contemporary jewellery that sat alongside intimate paintings created by Kirrily Hammond. The exhibition was featured as part of the Radiant Pavilion biennial in Melbourne. Kirrily and I self-published an exhibition catalogue that was beautifully designed by the talented Liz Cox at monoprint.com.au that featured an essay by Dr. Jessica Neath.

Special thanks go to Bundoora Homestead Art Centre for the opportunity to present these two new collections of work for ‘Keepsake’ as part of the contemporary jewellery biennial Radiant Pavilion, and particularly to Claire Watson, Curator, for her support of the project, Bundoora Homestead staff and volunteers, Gallerysmith, Pieces of Eight, Claire McArdle and Chloë Powell and the Radiant Pavilion selection panel, Dr Jessica Neath for the essay, Liz Cox at monoprint for graphic design, Andrew Barcham at Screaming Pixel for photography, Antonio Baldo at Oliver & Co. and Fini for framing, Anna Davern for sublimation printing, Honor Freeman for sage advice and studio chats from afar, and family and friends for their ongoing support and assistance.

I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit art. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider Melbourne community and beyond. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge that I work and live on country on which Members and Elders of The Wurundjeri people and their forebears have been custodians for many centuries and on which Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. I acknowledge their living culture and their unique role in the life of this region.
